Ventis Pharma Announces Commercial Launch of SafeTuck™, a Surgeon-Developed Surgical Patient Positioning and Securement System

Clinical data demonstrate faster patient positioning, improved operating room workflow, enhanced patient securement, reduced reliance on disposable supplies, and strong acceptance among surgical staff

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — August 15, 2026 — Ventis Pharma, Inc. (“Ventis”), a pharmaceutical and medical technology company focused on developing innovative solutions for pain management, procedural care, and operating room efficiency, today announced the commercial launch of SafeTuck™, a reusable surgical patient positioning and securement system designed for hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers.

Developed by Dr. Larry Volz, a practicing acute care and trauma surgeon with more than 25 years of operating room experience, SafeTuck was created to modernize a patient-positioning process that has remained largely unchanged for decades.

Traditional arm- and limb-tucking techniques frequently rely on combinations of sheets, towels, foam padding, adhesive materials, and disposable straps. These methods can require significant staff time, vary between surgical teams, consume disposable supplies with every procedure, and make rapid access to a patient’s extremities more difficult once a procedure has begun.

SafeTuck was specifically engineered to address those challenges.

The system attaches directly to standard operating table side rails and uses an adjustable, multi-link articulating mechanism to position and securely support a patient’s extremities. Once positioned, the system locks into place through a simple lever mechanism while allowing anesthesia and nursing personnel to rapidly regain access to the patient’s arm when clinically necessary.

Demonstrated Operating Room Benefits

Clinical evaluation and operating room experience with SafeTuck have demonstrated several important advantages:

  • Substantially Faster Patient Positioning: Traditional arm-tucking techniques can require up to approximately 10 minutes per case, while SafeTuck can allow surgical personnel to position and secure the patient’s extremities in as little as approximately one minute, helping improve room setup and overall OR efficiency.
  • Enhanced Patient Safety and Securement: SafeTuck provides a standardized and repeatable method for positioning and securing patient extremities during surgery. By helping prevent unintended limb movement or displacement from the operating table, the system is designed to reduce the risk of positioning-related complications, including potential nerve injury, vascular compromise, pressure-related injury, and skin tears.
  • Reduced Risk Associated With Limb Displacement: Accidental movement or loss of secure positioning during surgery can expose patients to preventable injury. SafeTuck is designed to maintain consistent extremity positioning throughout the procedure and provide surgical teams with greater confidence that the patient’s arm or leg remains securely supported.
  • Rapid Intraoperative Access: Unlike traditional sheet-tucking techniques, SafeTuck allows anesthesia and nursing teams to quickly access a secured extremity if an IV infiltrates, vascular access is required, monitoring needs change, or another clinical need develops during surgery.
Reduced Disposable Supply Utilization: SafeTuck’s reusable design and integrated padding can significantly reduce the routine use of disposable foam positioning pads, straps, additional linens, and other single-use positioning materials.
  • Meaningful Economic Benefit: Based on Ventis’ operating room utilization and cost analysis, reducing disposable positioning supplies and staff positioning time can provide thousands of dollars in potential annual savings per operating room, with the economic benefit increasing in higher-volume surgical facilities.
  • Strong Clinician Acceptance: Early clinical survey data demonstrate a high level of acceptance among surgical personnel using SafeTuck, with the substantial majority of participating clinicians indicating that they would recommend its continued use in their operating rooms.
“SafeTuck was born from a problem I experienced repeatedly throughout my surgical career,” said Dr. Larry Volz, SafeTuck inventor and co-founder of Ventis Pharma. “We were still securing patients using essentially the same methods that had been used for decades. I believed there had to be a faster, more consistent approach that could improve patient safety and positioning, reduce unnecessary waste, and give anesthesia and nursing teams immediate access to the patient’s arm when needed. SafeTuck was developed to accomplish exactly that.”

The commercial launch represents another significant expansion of Ventis Pharma’s portfolio as the Company broadens its focus beyond pharmaceuticals into medical technologies designed to address everyday clinical and operational challenges.

“SafeTuck addresses a remarkably common problem in operating rooms with a straightforward solution that can create value for the patient, the surgical team, and the hospital,” said Tim Patrick, CEO of Ventis Pharma. “When you combine enhanced patient securement, improved workflow, faster positioning, reduced disposable utilization, and potential cost savings across thousands of surgical procedures, the impact can become very significant for a hospital system.”

Commercial Rollout Underway

Ventis has begun the national commercial rollout of SafeTuck to hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing teams, and operating room leadership.

The Company’s commercialization strategy includes direct hospital demonstrations, clinical education, operating room evaluations, regional and national sales representation, distributor relationships, and targeted engagement with high-volume surgical facilities.

Ventis expects early adoption efforts to focus on surgical specialties and procedures where arm tucking and extremity positioning are routinely required and where improvements in patient securement, operating room efficiency, and clinical access can create meaningful benefits.

SafeTuck is commercially available now for hospital and ambulatory surgery center evaluation and deployment.
